Optical Shop & Contact Lenses
University Eye Specialists provides a full-service optical shop located within our Chicago office and staffed by opticians that are certified by the American Board of Opticianry.
Many frame styles from which to choose
Our knowledgeable and experienced optical manager Beth Leeds, and her staff will help you find the frame that is just right for your face, vision needs and lifestyle. Our large frame selection includes Giorgio Armani, Prada, Tiffany, Dolce and Gabbana, Burberry, Prodesign, John Varvatos, Silhouette, Dior, Gucci and Kate Spade. Sunglasses are available with and without prescription lenses.
Advanced lens technology
Our glasses are custom-fitted and lens fabrication is performed by several excellent laboratories. We offer advanced digital lens technology for single vision, bifocal, trifocal, progressive, computer, sports and other needs. Lens features include shatter resistant polycarbonate and Trivex materials, high-index materials, polarization, tints and Transitions.
Our optical shop offers BluTech lenses which filter and protect from high-energy blue and ultraviolet light. This feature is particularly important for patients with cataracts and macular degeneration.
Crizal Prevencia is a breakthrough in no-glare technology and offers selective protection against blue light and UV radiation.
The Transitions family of lenses is another continually developing technology that helps reduce glare and provide comfort in bright conditions by darkening outdoors and in UV conditions. Transitions styles include polarization, indoor/outdoor lenses that darken when outdoors. Our opticians can select the type of lenses that are right for your needs.
University Eye Specialists performs contact lens fittings and renewals. Dr. Gina Piper has expertise in contact lenses and can fit even the most challenging prescriptions. Whether you're experiencing dry eyes from your contact lenses, require gas permeable lenses, or need a simple renewal of your prescription, we offer the full spectrum of contact lens services.
We work with single vision, multifocal, and monovision contact lens fittings, and use soft, gas permeable, scleral and hybrid contact lenses. Patients who suffer from contact lens intolerance or changes in their corneal shape can also be assessed with a contact lens examination by Dr. Piper. There are many options available to patients today, including daily disposable and silicone hydrogel lenses that are effective for patients who need more oxygen permeability. In cases of chronic contact lens intolerance, patients may be evaluated for laser vision correction surgery as an alternative. Laser vision correction surgery is a safe, permanent solution to see clearly without the use of corrective lenses.
Contact lenses may be shipped directly to you or picked up in our office. Contact lenses can be ordered directly through our optical shop at the time of your visit, in person, by phone or online. Call our optical shop at (312) 475-1014 or order online:Order Contact Lenses Back to top
