We hold ourselves accountable to high standards of care
Our four surgeons have over 100 years of collective experience operating on over 15,000 patients. We are all certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. In addition, we are experts in glaucoma care, having completed fully accredited glaucoma fellowships. In fact, dozens of ophthalmologists from around the nation have come to us for highly selective fellowship training.
We are the ophthalmologists of the 2010 and 2013 World Champion Chicago Blackhawks. We have been invited to give numerous talks across the nation and have written dozens of peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters to teach others about the most cutting-edge advances in ophthalmology.
We do not rest on our laurels. Few eye doctors have as experienced skilled hands and even fewer have a respectful bedside manner. You deserve both.
Leaders among Chicagoland ophthalmologists
As adjunct professors and instructors of clinical ophthalmology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, we have contributed to the hands-on training of almost 20 local ophthalmologists, many of who rely on us as their preferred go-to surgeons for patients with particularly complex and delicate surgical needs.
Our doctors have served as presidents of both the Chicago Ophthalmological Society and the Chicago Glaucoma Society, elected by colleagues and local ophthalmologists.
Good communicators who take time to listen to you and explain for you
Many patients assume a requisite level of technical expertise in their physician. Part of what distinguishes the physicians and staff at University Eye Specialists is that we take the time to listen to your concerns about your eyes.
We understand you may be worried, feel frustrated and are fearful about an eye problem you're having. The doctors and staff at University Eye Specialists will thoroughly examine the front and back of your eyes and perform all the necessary testing to identify the cause of your concern. We'll educate and inform you about your eye condition so that you can make informed treatment decisions.
At our offices, we'll answer all your questions and provide you with the latest advances for maintaining or improving your vision.
Innovators in bladeless cataract surgery
We are among the very first and most experienced surgeons in Chicagoland to use laser-assisted cataract surgery, having performed hundreds of cases with excellent outcomes.
Our high-volume experience translates into invitations to provide educational instruction and guidance about bladeless cataract surgery to other ophthalmologists. We lecture at Northwestern University femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery course.

Best glaucoma doctors for sight-saving treatment
Patients who have been informed that they have glaucoma or high eye pressures often wonder if there is another option other than eye drops and traditional glaucoma surgery to prevent permanent vision loss.
Our surgeons perform Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgeries (MIGS). MIGS targets the natural drainage system of the eye found in the “angle” between the iris and the cornea. The goal of MIGS is to reduce your eye pressure with less risk, a shortened recovery time, and fewer follow up visits. MIGS includes goniotomy, ab-interno canaloplasty, gonio- assisted transluminal trabeculotomy, iStent, and others.
Please watch this video to see the placement of an iStent:
24/7/365 emergency eye care in our clinic
For our existing patients, our doctors are on call and available 24/7/365 if you have any emergency eye symptoms.
Instead of going to your local emergency room after office hours or waiting until the next day, you can call us and our ophthalmologist will listen to your concerns and examine you in a timely fashion, even in the middle of the night if necessary.
If further management is required, such as imaging or coordination with other sub-specialists, then our ophthalmologist will also personally serve as your concierge to Northwestern Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, significantly expediting your care.Back to top
